Advanced Chamber Camp

Coached by the Phoenix Quartet

Individuals and Ensembles
All advanced violinist, violist, cellist and pianist, aged 12 years (must have strong reading skills and teacher recommendation) through college age are encouraged to apply.  Individual students are required to provide a recording (youtube post or DVD) of their playing. These recordings will be used to place individuals in chamber groups as determined by The Phoenix Quartet.  Music will then be selected specifically for each chamber group and communicated to students.  Students are expected to be familiar with their individual parts before classes begin.

Preformed groups may bring their own music or have The Phoenix Quartet select music for them. Preformed groups must also provide a recording (youtube post or DVD) of their playing together as a group.

If you are a Suzuki student, use these levels as guidelines:
  • Violin - Book 7 and above
  • Cello - Book 5 and above
  • Viola - Book 4 and above
  • Piano - Book 7 and above

The Advanced String Chamber Camp will be in the same building as Suzuki Institute student classes but will operate on their own schedule, and will begin classes Monday morning.  Participants will work exclusively with the Phoenix Quartet members throughout the week in large and small groups with their ensembles.

The week will end with a final chamber performance on Friday afternoon. This is one of the highlights of PPSI!
