Advanced Chamber Camp

  • This program is for advanced musicians who are interested in an intense chamber experience.
  • For Suzuki and non-Suzuki students, levels equivalent to Violin B-7+, Viola B-4+ and Cello B-5+

Advanced musicians will work exclusively with our in-house string quartet, The Bayberry String Quartet (formerly The Phoenix Quartet) for the week. Students will work in large and small groups with Quartet mentors. Teaching will encourage building of curiosity, collaboration, preparation, accountability, respect, and friendship through chamber music. Players will learn how to go from being good at their instrument to becoming thoughtful, sensitive musicians.

Individual students are required to provide a recording (youtube video) of their playing. These recordings will be used to place individuals in chamber groups as determined by The Bayberry String Quartet. Music will then be selected specifically for each chamber group and communicated to students. Students are expected to be familiar with their individual parts before classes begin.

Preformed groups are encouraged to attend and may either bring their own music or The Bayberry String Quartet can select music for them. Preformed groups can provide a recording (youtube video) of their playing together as a group or individuals.

The week will end with a final chamber performance on Friday afternoon. This is one of the highlights of PPSI!
