PPSI believes in supporting teachers of all levels of experience by providing opportunities to further their own study. We offer enrollment opportunities to observe PPSI Suzuki student classes as well as course enrollment in various teacher training classes.

"5 hour Fiddle Pedagogy Workshop"
for violin, viola, and cello teachers with Crystal Plohman Wiegman

Teacher Training Workshop: 5 hour in-person multi-instrumental workshop with Crystal Plohman Wiegman- an in-depth workshop on her book "Fiddle and Song” for violin, viola, and cello teachers. “Fiddle and Song” is a sequenced fiddle method that supplements and supports Suzuki pedagogy. This workshop will take place at the Candlewood Suites before PPSI begins on Sunday, July 16, 2023.​

SECE "Revisting Stage 1" with
Danette Warren

PPSI is offering the NEW SECE Course "Revisiting Stage 1". This course will be offered concurrently in-person and online - note teachers may not mix options during the coursework. This 20 hour course will take place over 5 days - 4 hours each day (3 lecture hours and 1 SECE class each day)- resulting in 15 hours of lecture and 5 hours of SECE class. The course is designed for teachers who have registered a minimum of Stage 1 (teachers do NOT have to have any SECE teaching experience to register for this class). The course will use the newly revised SECE curriculum.

"Revisiting Unit 1 Violin" with
Christie Felsing

Revisiting Stage 1 will take place in-person at PPSI. This 15 hour lecture and 3 hour observation course will take place over 5 days- 3 lecture hours each morning followed by observation opportunities in the afternoons. The course is designed for teachers who have registered a minimum of Unit 1 and have at least one year of Suzuki teaching experience.

Enrichment class "Supplemental Literature for violin books 5 and up" with
Ann Montzka-Smelser

This 10 hour enrichment class will take place in-person at PPSI over 5 days. Each day will have 2 hours of lecture time in the morning. Participants are welcome to observe our Suzuki student classes as well as our advanced violin program when not in lecture class time.

Cello Unit 6 with
Blake Brasch

Cello Unit 6 will take place in-person at PPSI. This 15 hour lecture and 8 hour observation course will take place over 5 days - 3 lecture hours each morning followed by observation opportunities in the afternoons. For audition requirements, please review the SAA Guidelines and follow the SAA protocols for audition videos and guidelines.

Harp Unit 1 with
Mary Kay Waddington

Harp Unit 1 is a 28 hour lecture and 15 hour observation class that will take place over 8 days. The first 5 days will be in-person at PPSI (lecture in the morning followed by observation opportunities in the afternoon); the remaining lecture hours will take place online the 3 days following PPSI. Pre-requisites: You must complete ECC course, passed your audition, and become a member of the SAA before taking this Unit 1 course. For audition requirements, please review the SAA Guidelines for Teacher Training and follow the SAA protocols for audition videos and guidelines. All audition materials must be submitted no later that 14 days before the start of the course. It is highly recommended that you plan ahead and send in your audition video early. Having your audition in early will help ensure the ability to register the course you are taking.
